Boomers go down to China 84-78

China defeated Australia’s men’s basketball team, the Boomers, by six points in Beilun overnight in the first of two international friendlies, 84-78.

Toronto Raptors forward Nathan Jawai top scored for Australia with 14 points to go with 8 rebounds while Gold Coast Blaze guard James Harvey, who was named Captain of the Boomers for the tour prior to the game, added 12 points and 4 rebounds.

In other news the Under-19 Men’s team, the Emus, completed a clean sweep at the Under-19 Four Nations Tournament in Melbourne on Sunday, holding off Spain for a 74-70 win in the final match of the event.
