Well its been an interesting day in this years NBA Draft. For many people on Aussiebball it has come as a bit of shock that Patty Mills ended up getting picked so late in the second round of the draft. Before Mills injured his wrist playing for St Mary’s, many rated him as one of the best guards in the NCAA. But oh how things can change, never the less he has been draft to the Portland Trail Blazers at pick 55.

So what dos the futurte hold for Mills, if you look at the cases of Nathan Jawai and Brad Newley, don’t expect to see Mills playing many minutes in the NBA . That being said, Portland did not pick up any other guards in the draft but he will need to battle off against Jerryd Bayless, Steve Blake for a roster spot which isn’t all that bad. Thats all of course provided he does not get traded to another team, which is quite common.
